Adventure Café opened its doors in 2003, as an innovative and unique Adventure Travel Agency and funky travel enthusiasts Coffee Shop. Initially we offered a wide range of Adventure Holidays, and Adventure Experiences, as well as the finest coffee and paninis for many a mile around. However, the story really started when we started offering not only trips from the big adventure tour operators, but our own, more personal trips.
Our trips soon became characterised by the need to explore the outdoors, on foot, by bike, climbing, or in simple watercraft. Our very first trek actually had 3 leaders, and just 2 trekkers. That was back in 2003, when we took our first commercial UK based trek. We wanted to make sure that those two participants had the best time, and so we made sure of it.
Since then we discovered that the UK loves challenges. In fact we liken it to saying to a good friend 'I bet you couldn't climb up there!' Of course no-one can resist a challenge, and soon our customers were coming back for challenge, after challenge, after challenge. Most of our challengers come back year after year.
In the meanwhile, we were busily pushing the boundaries of where we could venture on our challenges. From rowing across the Straits of Gibraltar, to Wilderness Expeditions across the Knoydart Peninsular, we have blazed trails with groups through the Rajastani Desert , and through the steamy jungles of Cambodia . We have helped companies to foster new active healthy corporate cultures, we've helped countless charities to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds (maybe even over a million by now), and we have encouraged challengers into the outdoors who may not have thought it possible for them to participate. We have worked with diabetics, people with physical disabilities, and sufferers of Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Epilepsy. And of course, we have helped countless people who doubted their own abilities. We helped them to confront their limits, and to go beyond.
We believe passionately in the power of the outdoors, and also the power of stretching oneself.
We have found that by pushing personal limits in the outdoors, we grow, develop and slowly,
little by little, maybe uncover more of what life is really about.
Our events have visited in excess of 30 countries, and we cater regularly for both large (Over 1000 challengers simultaneously on walks, or 200 on bike rides) and small tailormade events (6 - 10 participants) - with great care taken to look after all of our participants. Our client list is extensive - and is proud to include Crystal Palace FC's Palace for Life Foundation, we have lead celebrities including Sir Ian Botham and Jeff Stelling, and organised bike rides including David Millar and Bernard Hinault. More normally though, we are proud to provide outstanding events for large Corporate Clients such as Morgan Stanley, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Santander, Invesco, EDF Trading, L'Oreal, Nomura Bank, and St James Place Wealth Management.
We think that it's because we take having fun so seriously, that our clients keep coming back to us, and we continue to thrive. Our client list is testimonial to our professionalism, our enthusiasm, and our dedication to delivering what our customers are looking for. We work with many of the UK 's biggest charities, many high profile corporate clients, and many private groups each year. We enjoy the challenges that you throw at us.
Our charity events have been so successful that our working relationships last for many years, and include Great Ormond Street Hospital, Rays of Sunshine, Whizz Kids, Unicef, The National Autistic Society, Rainbow Trust, Prostate Cancer, Alzheimers Society, St James Place Wealth Management, Deutsche Bank, Nomura Bank, British Airways, Moet Chandon, London Stock Exchange, PRAHS, and many more.
In a nutshell, this is what Adventure Café does. We are here to say 'yes'. Yes, you can venture into the outdoors. Yes you can climb that mountain. Yes you can cycle to the Sahara Desert . Yes you can row down the River Thames. And yes, you can abseil down that gaping Gorge. Our team are an incredible bunch of people, who go out there, every day, and push themselves higher, further, harder, and know what it feels like to find your limits. And they will be there for you
when you falter to give you that helping hand, those encouraging words, or maybe even a stern talking to
in order that you will be able to stand proudly at the end of your challenge and say 'YES - I did it!'
