Cycle Mallorca Round the Island
Bike Adventure
This ride is the perfect blend of sublime roads, stunning scenery and great weather. Come and ride Europe's cycling Mecca this year. You will cycle for three days along a beautiful, smooth and fast route, as well as having awesome overnight facilities and the tastiest local cuisine!
We’ll greet you at Palma Airport and transfer you to our recommended Palma hotel. We will set up our hire bikes here before a beachfront lunch. After lunch we’ll hit the road with a warm up 60km ride to the Cala D’or area.
Our ride ramps up on day 2 with 140km ahead of us. But don’t fear, the peninsula ride to Cap Formentor at the end of the day is optional – although regarded as one of Europe’s best cycling roads!
The only way is up on day 3 as we head over the Puig Major to the postcard town of Port Soller, with an option to take on the infamous Sa Calobra climb. Our hotel is by the beach; an ideal chance to rest the legs after a tough day in the mountains.
Our final day can be amended to suit your group and your departure flight arrangements, either way we’ll cycle the north-western coast of the Island before travelling back to Playa de Palma, where we will either check in to our hotel or arrange for transfers to Palma Airport.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Fly from UK to Palma. Playa de Palma – Cala d’Or
Once we have you set up on your bike we’ll depart Playa de Palma for Cala d’Or starting along the beachfront but soon finding ourselves on quiet lanes. We’ll stop for an afternoon coffee in Ses Salines before arriving at our coastal accommodation
Day 2 - Cala d’Or – Port de Pollenca
Leaving Cala d’Or we will head for coffee in Porto Cristo, from here we will head to lunch in Capdepera beneath the Castell. After lunch we’ll blast towards Port Pollenca, where we have an option to ride the epic Cap Formentor Peninsula, or get into a bar for early refreshments.
Day 3 - Port de Pollenca – Port de Soller
We start climbing into the Tramuntana mountains on day 3. We’ll all head up and over the Puig Major, stopping for a simple lunch at the divert to Sa Calobra. For those with energy left in the legs we can’t recommend the iconic Sa Collabra enough. Either way from Lunch we still have a little way to climb before descending to the postcard perfect Port Soller.
Day 4 - Port de Soller – Playa de Palma
We have several route options dependant on your departure arrangements. Our preference is to complete our longer route which explores the Western coasts of the Island before returning to a Palma hotel for beachside celebrations – alternatively the route can be shortened to allow for evening flight departures

What is a Level 3.5 Cycling Challenge Like?
These challenge rides are either longer, with more ascent, or span several days. In the case of single day events, you can expect up to 10 hours cycling. In the case of a multi day ride, you can expect lower daily durations - but of course - the effort is sustained over a longer period. You need to be a keen cyclist for these events, and to enjoy training, and to ride regularly. If the ride is outside the EU, it is likely to be easier in terms of the physical riding, however, you will need to be more resilient - due to more basic living conditions (in the case of Asia / Africa especially)
How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 3.5 ‘Bike Ride’?
You need to have good endurance for these events. You must be used to doing long rides in the countryside - 6 hours + . You should be doing regular exercise - with some serious cycle training. Your typical comfortable cycling speed will be at least 22-24 km/hr, and you should be able to cycle at high speed for up to 1 hour or 25 km. You may also be concentrating on other types of exercise - but for longer periods of time (ie sessions in excess of 1.5 hrs.) - however cycling is the best preparation (obviously!)
Medical Issues
If you have any serious medical condition - you MUST check your suitability to participate, with your GP. Please ask the office at Adventure Cafe if you in any doubt - 01823 444 246
Special Notes
On booking this adventure you are signing up for the ride, the leadership, and the support of an experienced and helpful crew - who will endeavour to lead you safely and reliably. You will have an an experienced cycling leader, as well as an experienced support driver / bike mechanic and First Aider. It is very important that you are at a suitable (as specified) fitness level - as a very wide spread of fitness levels is difficult to manage on the road safely and smoothly. In the case of someone being well below the correct fitness level, they may be asked to jump in the vehicle - in order that overall the team is well supported.

Notes on Cycling Events
This is our standard range of Cycling Challenges in the UK, Europe and further afield. However, we offer completely tailormade itineraries to your specification. Call us to discuss!
Please note that for overseas point to point cycling challenges we can transport soft cases for bike transport - but not hard cases, due to space limitations on board our support vehicles.
On all our cycling events, please pack sensibly and bring a reasonably sized soft holdall type bag.
To participate in an overseas Adventure Cafe challenge - you must carry Travel Insurance (to be for the activity you are participating in, and to include repatriation to the UK).
Please also note that you should have a good level of cycling experience and be competent to handle your bike. We ride on roads shared with other vehicles - and you need to be able to deal with this safely.
