Mallorca 3 Day Alcudia Challenge

Bike Adventure

Based in the Port town of Alcudia this trip offers the very best in Mallorca cycling. Take on the mighty Sa Calobra and Puig Major climbs. Three routes to showcase the cycling mecca that is Mallorca. Quite simply, this ride is the perfect blend of sublime roads, stunning scenery and great weather. Come and Ride the Island. With some wonderfully smooth and fast riding, this is riding nirvana - just the best cycling available - anywhere!

We’ll greet you at Palma Airport and transfer you to our recommended hotel near to Port Pollenca. This hotel will be home for the next 4 nights, we will set up our hire bikes on arrival, before a fantastic evening meal on the Beachfront.

Our first day heads south towards Can Picafort before returning to Pollenca, there’s a very special end to the day with an optional ride out to the lighthouse at Cap Formentor. A must do for any cyclist visiting Mallorca.

We’ll explore the central part of the Island on day 2 heading through Inca and back, with extension riders heading all the way to Orient and the Col d’Honor.

Finally we have our mountain day, all riders will climb up to Lluc, with those still with juice in their legs, we’ll continue up and down arguably the best cycling climb in the world, Sa Calobra. It’s a mighty descent back to Port Pollenca and our final evening meal.

Transfers back to Palma are available on Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Day 1 - Can Picafort Loop – Direct

We’ll head south along the coastal road to Can Picfort before heading inland towards Sa Pobla. We’ll encounter the foothills of Tramuntana mountains as we return to Port Pollenca. From here you can either chill in the hotel (66km total) or continue to Cap Formentor, one of our favourite roads in the World!

 Can Picafort Loop – Extension

The extension will continue beyond Can Picafort heading inland to Sineu before rejoining the diurect route near to Sa Pobla

Day 2 - Inca Loop – Direct

Our day will be spent in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains, and the central part of the Island around Inca, but don’t fear we’ll climb to a maximum elevation of only 250metres.

Todays extension will head beyond Lloseta and up the winding road to the Col ‘d’Honor sitting at 560metres above sea level. We’ll then drop back down and rejoin the direct route in Inca

What is a Level 3.5 Cycling Challenge Like?

These challenge rides are either longer, with more ascent, or span several days. In the case of single day events, you can expect up to 10 hours cycling. In the case of a multi day ride, you can expect lower daily durations - but of course - the effort is sustained over a longer period. You need to be a keen cyclist for these events, and to enjoy training, and to ride regularly. If the ride is outside the EU, it is likely to be easier in terms of the physical riding, however, you will need to be more resilient - due to more basic living conditions (in the case of Asia / Africa especially)

How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 3.5 ‘Bike Ride’?

You need to have good endurance for these events. You must be used to doing long rides in the countryside - 6 hours + . You should be doing regular exercise - with some serious cycle training. Your typical comfortable cycling speed will be at least 22-24 km/hr, and you should be able to cycle at high speed for up to 1 hour or 25 km. You may also be concentrating on other types of exercise - but for longer periods of time (ie sessions in excess of 1.5 hrs.) - however cycling is the best preparation (obviously!)

Notes on Cycling Events

This is our standard range of Cycling Challenges in the UK, Europe and further afield. However, we offer completely tailormade itineraries to your specification. Call us to discuss! Please note that for overseas point to point cycling challenges we can transport soft cases for bike transport - but not hard cases, due to space limitations on board our support vehicles. On all our cycling events, please pack sensibly and bring a reasonably sized soft holdall type bag. To participate in an overseas Adventure Cafe challenge - you must carry Travel Insurance (to be for the activity you are participating in, and to include repatriation to the UK). Please also note that you should have a good level of cycling experience and be competent to handle your bike. We ride on roads shared with other vehicles - and you need to be able to deal with this safely.
